Here you can get tutoring with the participation package (BuT) – simply explained
What is BuT – and how does it help you?
The education and participation package supports children and young people from families with low incomes.
An important component is learning support (tutoring): If your school confirms that additional support is needed, you can use tutoring – even without “acute risk of failure”. This support can also be provided by an external provider such as alerno. This makes participation in lessons really possible.
This is how it works at alerno – in three steps
Fill in a short form.
Have subjects confirmed at school.
Submit your application to us – we’ll take care of the rest.
The subsidized tutoring takes place at our Bremen locations or directly at partner schools.
Who is entitled?
BuT applies to children in the household if you receive citizen’s allowance, child supplement, housing benefit, social benefit/social assistance or asylum seeker benefits. Education benefits are available up to 25 (for school attendance without a training allowance), participation benefits up to 18. If you receive citizen’s allowance, you apply to the Jobcenter; otherwise to the city/municipality.
Bremen-Special: Bremen-Pass & Responsibilities
In Bremen, a Bremen-Pass is issued for BuT. Citizen’s allowance is handled by the Jobcenter Bremen, other benefits (e.g. housing benefit/child supplement) by the Office for Social Services.
Why alerno? We build educational bridges.
Our tutoring is flexible (individual or small groups), close to your learning goals, and designs learning paths that close gaps – real educational bridges between lessons and success. This relieves everyday life, strengthens motivation, and creates space for health. By the way: BuT also supports shared lunch in school/daycare – the costs are covered.
